"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve as to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their country." — George Washington, 1789

THEY GAVE MUCH MORE THAN THEY RECEIVE FOR OUR FREEDOM Wounded veterans of the present War on Terrorism and the past wars must struggle every day to overcome life-changing sacrifices such as the loss of a limb, significant burns, and the reality of being in a wheelchair. The mission of Injured Soldiers Foundation is to help the people who have given so much on our behalf overcome these obstacles and resume a productive and fulfilling life through programs that help them get back into their personal hobbies.
NOW IT'S OUR TIME TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION
Founded in 2005 as a non-partisan 501(c) (3) organization, Injured Soldiers Foundation is partnering with corporate sponsors, individual contributors, and volunteers to provide an easy and meaningful way for individuals and corporations to help these veterans and their families carry out meaningful lives. You can help by means of direct tax-deductible donations, participating in programs that raise money, giving your time, as well as corporate sponsorships. One-hundred percent of all money contributed goes directly to service-members and their families.
IT TAKES ALL OF US

When we work together, the results of our efforts are clear. The men and women who are heroes from the battlefield return home to be heroes to their families and communities.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
"Taking Care of Our Own"

Operation Injured Soldiers began it's operation where so many other stories end, when SSG. Tony Covell was grievously wounded in Iraq in 2004. As Tony recovered from his injuries at the Brooke Army Medical Center, a conversation with his mother planted the seed of a dream. He had written off ever being able to hunt and fish again, but his mother said "yes, you will." A year after sustaining his injuries, he shared his dream to hunt and fish again with a representative from the Coalition to Salute American Heroes. Soon, he found himself on a turkey hunt in Texas. His dream grew after that experience, large enough to include hundreds of other wounded veterans just like him who shared his passion for the out-of-doors. In 2005, SSG. Covell established the Injured Soldiers Foundation. Its mission is to aid in the physical and mental rehabilitation of our wounded heroes by providing them with hunting, fishing, camping and many other outdoor recreational activities that they may not otherwise be able to enjoy. Through corporate sponsorships and individual donations these trips are provided at no cost to our wounded heroes. Since that turkey hunting trip, Operation Injured Soldiers has arranged trips for nearly 300 other injured soldiers and hasn't looked back.
