It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

Hunters Helping Hunters -- Marcus Obryan
I was flown from Tallahassee, Florida to Fort Wayne, Indiana by OIS after first being contacted by
Tony Covell. Once I arrived, a member of Hunters Helping Hunters picked me up and drove me to the
motel. I was settled in for the night, in anticipation of the next day's hunt.
I had never hunted in the snow before. We were hunting the deer with black powder rifles and the one
they provided for me had a scope. We arrived at the farm and drove as close as possible to the area
where the ground blind was. It was a short walk to arrive at the blind. Daylight broke as we settled into
the blind. The deer were on the move and the guide pointed them out to me. I could see them without
binoculars, even at a distance of 50 to 75 yards as they were big brown patches in the white snowy
background. As we watched them, I picked out one that was crossing the corn field at a distance that
allowed me a shot.
When the deer was within 20 yards or so, the guide aided me in getting ready for the shot, and I took
it. "Did I get it?" I asked. With great excitement, the guide hugged me and said you got yourself a big
doe. We unzipped the blind and headed out into the snow covered field to look at my trophy. I was
very proud and excited. Thank you Tony, for a wonderful time and a lifetime of memories.
May God Bless you and family.
